The address column is the only one that never lies. Name, symbol and decimals can all be faked by the contract deployer — the address cannot.
📄Why Scammers Make aUSDT
Scammers airdrop fake tokens to thousands of wallets. Victims see “USDT” arrive, and either (a) try to sell it via a pool that steals their real USDT, or (b) interact with the fake contract and approve a drainer. The token itself is worthless; the interaction is the trap.
Rule: any token you did not purchase is not real USDT. Hide it, ignore it, never approve it. If it says “claim,” “activate,” or “swap,” it is bait. See scam patterns.
📄Where Fakes Hide
- Your wallet — via airdrops (hide the token).
- DEX pools — pools pairing “USDT” with a fake contract (verify both sides).
- Fake swap sites — platforms that route you to the wrong token.
The DEX case is the nastiest: a pool shows “USDT/WTRX” and looks legitimate, but the “USDT” side is a fake contract. When you swap into it, you receive worthless tokens. Always click through to both contracts before trading an unfamiliar pair.
